Paul and Eva

I think the reason Ivaan liked Paul and Eva so much is that they reminded him of a younger version of us. Paul is keenly interested in the tiny details, but he is also a "big picture" person: a dreamer, a conceptualizer with a powerful artistic force, fuelled by strong determination. Eva is the balanced, grounding influence, but with a huge sense of humour and appreciation for Paul's quirky side. Without people like Eva and me, the Pauls and Ivaans of this world would fly off into the stratosphere on a cloud of brilliant ideas, never to be seen again.

Paul has become a serious collector of Ivaan's original art, and his eye is good enough to discern which are the masterpieces.  For their upcoming 20th anniversary, Paul and Eva chose a set of rings made by the master's own hands.  Paul's has four rubies; Eva's has three. Together, they make a week of rubies. Paul and Eva are dropping by today; I'm smiling just thinking about their visit. Ivaan will be hovering in the stratosphere, and I know we're going to be laughing.
