Ivaan and Eya

Ivaan made my wedding ring about three years before our marriage.  He used to make beautiful little roses by rolling fresh bread between his thumb and index finger.  In 1992, I asked him if he could make a ring out of bread roses.  He did, and that became the original of my wedding ring.   To see the ring with which he proposed, you’ll have to look on the “Rings” page in the Gallery section.

Ivaan's wedding ring was not the one with which he intended to be married.  The ring he had chosen disappeared from his store a few days before our wedding, so he had to make a snap decision. Fortunately, he only made rings he liked.  I love the ring he selected.

Moments before undergoing brain surgery in December, 2008, as we waited outside the operating room, Ivaan slipped his wedding ring off his finger, slid it onto my middle finger and whispered, "Just wear this for the time being".   It's still there.  - Eya
